Dynamik automatically fetches fresh iPhone wallpapers from your favorite subreddits

Some people are happy with the stock wallpapers that come with their iPhones, while others will be happy with the plethora of images they can find while searching the web. No matter which camp you identify with we at iDownloadBlog understand the constant struggle that befalls folks who enjoy changing things up frequently, which is one of the reasons why our own Jim Gresham publishes weekly wallpaper-centric pieces.

But if even that isn’t frequent enough of a change for you and you have a jailbroken device at your disposal, then you might take an interest in a newly released and free jailbreak tweak named Dynamik by iOS developer JeffResc.

Update: The tweak has been removed from the Packix repository for unknown reasons. We will update this post if and when this changes.

From what we can gather, Dynamik was designed to be the unofficial successor of an older add-on called Stellae, and it can deliver fresh wallpapers to your handset on a timer. The tweak gets its images from various subreddits and can then apply those images to the Home Screen Lock screen, or both, depending on your preference.

Once installed, Dynamik adds a preference pane to the Settings app where it can be configured:

Here, you can:

  • Choose where wallpapers get applied:
    • Home Screen
    • Lock screen
    • Both
  • Toggle the parallax effect
  • Choose your preferred subreddit for sourcing images
  • Filter NSFW images as wallpapers
  • Configure the image quality filter (based on ‘hot’ posts)
  • Toggle the automatic image-fetching timer
  • Choose the time of day that Dynamik will search for a new image
  • View current wallpaper
  • Manually update wallpaper
  • Save your current wallpaper

The developer provides a Respring button at the top-right of the preference pane to save any changes you make.

We particularly like that users can set the subreddit of their choosing, as this opens doors to seemingly limitless possibilities for wallpaper enthusiasts. The developer has gone ahead and suggested some popular subreddits for starting off, including:

If you’re interested in trying Dynamik for yourself, then you can download the tweak for free from the Packix repository via your preferred package manager. The tweak supports jailbroken iOS 11, 12, and 13 devices.
