The Terrace is Samsung’s outdoor 4K QLED smart TV featuring AirPlay 2 and the Apple TV app

Like many other smart TV manufacturers out there, Samsung is launching new products that boast a pair of Apple-specific features, and that trend continues with a TV that’s designed to be outside.

Samsung announced what it’s calling The Terrace on Thursday. It’s a smart TV that’s specifically built to be outside, including featuring an IP55 water and dust resistance rating. It’s part of Samsung’s “lifestyle” series, and it’s one of the company’s newest 4K QLED sets. It boasts a peak brightness high enough that, even while watching the TV in direct sunlight you should still be able to make out what’s going on.

The Terrace will gain Google Assistant support soon, but right now it features Amazon Alexa right out of the box. The smart TV supports AirPlay 2, making it easy to stream content from an iPhone, iPad, or Mac, and it also offers access to iTunes, Apple Music, and all of the content available from Apple TV+ thanks to the Apple TV app.

The new QLED smart TV has an antireflective coating built in. It can get to a peak 2,000 nits brightness. It supports High Dynamic Range (HDR) content as well.

The Terrace is available in three sizes: 55 inches, 65 inches, and 75 inches. Each set supports a high refresh rate of 120Hz thanks to Samsung’s Motion Rate 240. This makes it an ideal set for sports watching.

These are not cheap smart TVs! You can pre-order the 65- and 75-inch models right now, with the smaller option priced at $4,999.99 and the larger model set at $6,499.99. The 55-inch model is not listed on Samsung’s site at the time of publication.

The company also introduced a Terrace soundbar today.

The Terrace Soundbar can be mounted to a wall, or directly to the Terrace TV. It packs powerful and crisp audio for a truly immersive outdoor home theater experience. No matter where you are in the backyard, you won’t miss a second of the action. And with an IP55 rating just like the display, the Terrace Soundbar is built to be weather-resistant and durable outdoors. Plus, when you’re outside, clear, rich sound is the baseline. To deliver on that, the Terrace Soundbar features distortion cancelling technology. By cancelling distortion before it happens, it delivers a deep and clear bass sound from its built-in woofers.

Unfortunately, The Terrace soundbar isn’t available to buy just yet.

So, who’s buying an outdoor TV today?
