GamingNotification brings animated RGB effects to your iPhone’s notifications

If you’re a PC gamer at heart and your entire desk is brimming with unicorn barf colored RGB accessories, then perhaps the one thing missing in your life is an iPhone decked out with the same colorful swag. Fortunately, that shortcoming can be solved with a newly released jailbreak tweak.

Enter GamingNotification, an add-on created by iOS developer Minazuki that brings configurable animated RGB borders to your iPhone’s incoming notification banners and Today widgets.

In the screenshot examples above, you can see what GamingNotification looks like at a glance. But since these RGB effects are animated, only an animated GIF can truly do them any justice:

Colorful indeed…

As we noted earlier, GamingNotification is fully configurable, and the tweak adds a dedicated preference pane to the Settings app where you can adjust various settings to your heart’s content:

Here, you can:

  • Toggle Gaming Notification on or off on demand
  • Choose your preferred border width:
    • 1 px
    • 2 px
    • 3 px
  • Adjust widget animation speed
  • Adjust notification banner animation speed

The developer includes a Respring button at the top-right of the preference pane, which is good because a respring is required to save your changes. It’s also worth noting that you may need to respring twice in a row for your changes to take effect.

I use quite a few RGB accessories with my gaming rig myself, so I’ve always had a slight soft spot for quirky tweaks just like GamingNotification. With that in mind, it not come as much of a surprise that I enjoyed testing ChromaHomeBarX, a similar tweak that added RGB effects to the iPhone’s Home Bar.

If you’re interested in trying GamingNotification out for yourself, then you can purchase it for $1.00 from the Packix repository via your preferred package manager. The tweak supports jailbroken iOS 13 devices, but it should be noted that the tweak probably won’t make you any better at gaming…
