What started in March due to the global coronavirus pandemic is now being extended into May, with Apple Card customers able to defer their payment for yet another month.

Apple and Goldman Sachs, the bank Apple partnered with to launch the Apple Card in 2019, will now let Apple Card customers defer their May payment as well. This effectively extends the program one more month, as long as the customer has enrolled in the Customer Assistance Program. Once enrolled, the Apple Card owner can defer their payment without incurring any interest as long as they have been negatively impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.

The latest extension was first reported on Friday by 9to5Mac.

To enroll, Apple Card customers need to open the Wallet app on their iPhone or iPad, tap on the Apple Card, and then select the circle with three dots inside. There will be a message bubble that needs to be selected, and then the customer must inform a customer support rep they want to enroll in the program. Once the customer has been enrolled, a confirmation email will be sent to the email address on file associated with the Apple Card.

As is par for the course with these deferred payments, customers will not incur any interest charges for the month of May, but the overall amount will still reflect the outstanding balance.

There is no word on when this program will end, because there is no telling when the current health crisis will subside. Still, it’s good to see that both Apple and Goldman Sachs are trying to help Apple Card customers impacted by the coronavirus in some way.
