One of my favorite parts of browsing the internet on my iPad is having a near-desktop-class web browser at my fingertips. Unfortunately, many of the features that make the iPad version of Safari so convenient to use aren’t present in the iPhone version, such as tabbed browsing.
While you can certainly have more than one web page open at once on the iPhone, switching among them isn’t quite as satisfying as it is on the iPad. Fortunately, a newly released and free jailbreak tweak dubbed Safari Features by iOS developer HurouofTech brings the iPad’s incredible tabbed browsing experience to jailbroken iPhones and iPod touches.
As shown in the screenshot example above, Safari Features quite literally ports the same exact experience that you’d come to expect on an iPad to your smaller iOS handsets. You can comfortably fit three tabs vertically before things start to become cramped, but you can certainly have more than three tabs if you wanted to.
As you might come to expect, tapping on those tabs opens the respective website, and it works in both portrait and landscape orientation. Similarly, you can still tap on the button at the bottom-right of the interface to see all your open web pages at a glance and move between them as you normally would. With that in mind, users will see no functionality lost, but a lot will be gained.
As simple of a tweak as Safari Features is, it doesn’t have any options to configure. Merely installing the tweak ports the upgraded tabbed browser experience to your iPhone or iPad, and the tweak supports jailbroken installations of iOS 13.
Those interested in trying Safari Features can download the tweak for free from the BigBoss repository via their preferred package manager.
