Why cope with a dumb Low Power Mode when you can use SmarterLPM?

Low Power Mode is an incredibly handy utility that helps iPhone users get the most out of their handsets when the battery level falls below a comfortable percentage. Apple designed Low Power Mode in such a way that users wouldn’t need to interact with the feature all that much, but in doing so, they also limited the possibility of advanced configurations tailored for ideal low-power setups.

Given the circumstances mentioned above, it’s not difficult to understand why iOS developer smokin1337 has released a new free jailbreak tweak dubbed SmarterLPM. Just as the tweak’s name suggests, SmarterLPM aims to make Low Power Mode a whole lot more useful for users with the help of deeply integrated user-configurable settings.

Once installed, SmarterLPM adds the following preference pane to the native Settings app:

Here, you will be able to:

  • Toggle automatically enabling Low Power Mode when your screen is turned off
  • Toggle automatically enabling Low Power Mode when your handset is charging
  • Toggle automatically enabling Low Power Mode when Do Not Disturb mode is turned on
  • Hide the annoying Low Power Mode alert
  • Toggle automatically enabling dark mode when Low Power Mode is turned on
  • Configure a custom battery percentage to toggle Low Power Mode automatically (20 is default)
  • Configure a custom battery percentage to display a low battery alert (20 is default)
  • Choose a low battery alert sound from dozens of native system sounds
  • Configure a custom battery percentage to display an alert when Low Power Mode is turned off after charging (80 is default)
  • Choose a charging battery alert sound from dozens of native system sounds
  • Toggle Low Power Mode on automatically when opening specific apps on your device

As you can see for yourself, SmarterLPM is no slouch when it comes to augmenting your handset’s Low Power Mode capabilities. We particularly like the per-app settings and the ability to configure custom battery percentages for specific actions. Moreover, automatic dark mode is sure to see positive battery gains on OLED-equipped handsets.

As a quick disclaimer, we should probably warn that use of SmarterLPM is likely to spoil you, and should you ever lose your jailbreak for any reason, you’d be likely to hate using the stock Low Power Mode setting after getting a taste of what this tweak can do for you.

Those interested in giving SmarterLPM a try can download the tweak for free from the Packix repository via their preferred package manager. The tweak supports pwned iOS 13 devices.
