Apps of the week

In this edition of our Apps of the Week roundup we have a game show buzzer (seriously), an app that helps you deal with stress and anxiety, and an app for emailing yourself notes. And as always, we’ve selected two great new games for you to check out.

Game Show Buzzer

Here’s an interesting application. It’s essentially just what its title suggests, a game show buzzer, but it’s features are impressive though. It supports up to 1,000 players in the same game with no need to be on the same network. So you can imagine playing trivia with friends via video conference, and everyone can have their own virtual buzzer, and a host can award points for correct answers. It’s super niche, obviously, but it seems very well done.

Calmer You: The Anxiety App

These days things obviously feel more stressful, so if you’re looking for an app that can maybe help you cope with things, this one is worth a shot. It’s called Calmer You, and it offers more than 50 tools and exclusive practices that have proven to help with managing anxiety, stress, depression and more. The app is free, but it’s hard to tell how many features are hidden behind the Premium Access IAP.

Pigeon – Email Yourself

Pigeon is a simple productivity tool for people who use their email inbox like a todo list manager. It’s basically a minimal text editor with the ability to quickly email yourself everything from websites to photos, ideas and more. Now this app is for sure on the pricier side, especially for its limited functionality, but reading through some of the early reviews it seems like this fills a specific need so well for some folks that they are ok with it.

Plexicle

If you’re looking for something a little more arcade-like, check out Plexicle. In this title, the fate of humanity lies in your hands as you search of a renewable energy source. Try to stay alive and avoid obstacles by tapping to ascend and releasing to descend. Avoid asteroids and floating skyscrapers at all costs. The graphics are sharp and the gameplay is both easy to learn and addictive.
