As much as we use our phones, tablets and computer peripherals (mice and keyboards) these days, we really should consider cleaning them more. These things are a hot bed for everything from dust to dirt, germs and bacteria.
As usual, iDB has you covered. We’ve done the research and put together a roundup of what we believe are some of the best products for keeping your phone and other devices clean.
Clean your smartphone and other devices
- Tech Armor Pro Cleaning Kit
- Lysol Disinfecting Wipes
- Endust Electronics Wipes
- InvisibleShield Glass Elite+ Vision Guard
- PhoneSoap Wireless
- LifeProof Fre iPhone Case
- OtterBox Defender Series Case
Tech Armor Pro Cleaning Kit
Tech Armor’s 120 ML Pro Cleaning Kit comes with everything you need to keep your phone and other electronic devices clean. It comes with water-based TechClean Gel screen cleaner, microfiber polishing cloth and alcohol-free screen wipes. We couldn’t find a direct mention of anti-microbial properties, but Tech Armor claims the Gel removes germs and bacteria.
Lysol Kitchen Disinfecting Wipes
In a support document, Apple says you can use either Lysol or Clorox Kitchen disinfecting wipes to clean your keyboard, mouse and trackpad. The key is to squeeze the excess fluid out of the wipe before using it, and then drying off the area with a soft, lint-free cloth afterwards. Apple says you can use these wipes on your iPhone as well.
Endust for Electronics Anti-Static Wipes
Geared more specifically towards electronics, Endust wipes are another good option for wiping down your phone and other electronics. Again there’s no specific mention of disinfecting properties, but since the basic ingredient of the wipes is isopropyl alcohol, they should do a good job of clearing out bacteria.
InvisibleShield Glass Elite VisionGuard+
InvisibleShield has long been known for its excellent, scratch-proof screen protectors, but the Glass Elite VisionGuard+ takes things to the next level. Not only is its offer InvisibleShield’s strongest screen protection ever, it also features anti-fingerprint tech, VisionGuard tech to block harmful HEV lights, and anti-microbial tech that kills 99.99% of surface bacteria.
If you haven’t heard of PhoneSoap, it’s a company that makes these little mini storage cases that use UV rays to kill 99.9% of germs on your phones and gadgets. This solution is obviously quite a bit more expensive than those listed above, but it can fully sanitize your phone in 10 minutes and has a built-in wireless Qi charger.
LifeProof Waterproof Fre Case
Here’s a different take on the idea of keeping your iPhone clean—put it in a case. A case can obviously protect your phone from dirt and grime, and they are far easier to clean and disinfect. It’s a bit expensive, but I particularly like the Fre Case from LifeProof here because it’s waterproof and completely sealed.
OtterBox Defender Series Pro Case
To that end, OtterBox actually makes makes an iPhone case with a layer of Microbial Defense tech. I wasn’t able to find very many details on just what exactly that means, but OtterBox says it helps “protects the case from many common germs.”
