Switcher is a retractable app drawer for your favorite or recently used apps

Most iPhone and iPad users rely on iOS’ native App Switcher for fast-paced app-to-app multitasking, but if you wanted something a bit less intrusive (and perhaps even more aesthetically pleasing), then you might enjoy a newly released jailbreak tweak called Switcher by iOS developer neoish.

As depicted in the screenshot examples above, Switcher puts a versatile application-switching drawer at the edge of your display that can be shown or hidden on demand with nothing more than a simple slide gesture from the edge of the screen.

It even looks great on the iPad:

In standby mode, Switcher nearly disappears from sight apart from a semi-transparent grabber at the edge of the display. When you’re ready to use Switcher, however, you can pull on the grabber to summon a single or double-columned app drawer filled with either your favorite or recently used applications. The tweak’s different states are shown below:

Once installed, you’ll find a dedicated preference pane in the Settings app where you can configure Switcher to your liking:

Here, you’ll be able to:

  • Toggle Switcher on or off on demand
  • Choose your preferred position on the screen for the slider/drawer:
    • Right
    • Left
  • Hide the interface when snapping screenshots
  • Active the interface with a gesture
  • Choose between favorite or recent apps
  • Configure four or eight favorite apps
  • Enable or disable the second column for eight apps

The developer includes a Save button at the top-right of the preference pane that lets you save any changes you make on demand.

Obviously, you could just use your App Switcher to use recently used apps, so it comes down to what interface you like more in that respect. The Switcher tweak, however, allows you to save favorite apps, which may be useful in a pinch. The interface can be invoked from anywhere in iOS, except for the Lock screen for security reasons.

If you’re interested in trying Switcher, then you can purchase it for $1.99 from the Havoc repository via your preferred package manager. The tweak supports jailbroken iOS 11, 12, and 13 devices.
