There have been rumors swirling around for quite some time that Apple is planning to switch to mini-LED display designs for future products. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo is here to keep those fires burning.

According to an investor note sent out by Kuo today (via MacRumors), Apple is currently working on six different products that will utilize mini-LED display technology. And that includes a brand new MacBook Pro variant as well, one that reportedly features a 14.1-inch display. Which, if true, would be an upgrade to the 13.3-inch variant. (There were rumors of an upgrade to the 13-inch MacBook Pro in late 2019, so this seems to line up.)

So, what are the devices, based on Kuo’s note? Well, the aforementioned 14.1-inch MacBook Pro is one. And then there is the 12.9-inch iPad Pro, a 27-inch iMac Pro, a 10.2-inch iPad, and a 16-inch MacBook Pro. Apparently Apple is even working on a 7.9-inch iPad mini with a mini-LED display, too.

The product research and development for mini LED remain unaffected by the COVID-19. The visibility for commercialization has even exceeded the expectations in our previous report.

The trend for Apple’s development and promotion of mini LED are more identifiable in five years. We predict that Apple is currently developing six mini-LED-support products (vs. the previous report of only two products), including a 12.9-inch ‌iPad Pro‌, a 27-inch ‌iMac Pro‌ in 4Q20, a 14.1-inch ‌MacBook Pro‌ (upgraded from 13.3-inch), a 16-inch ‌MacBook Pro‌, a 10.2-inch ‌iPad‌, and a 7.9-inch ‌iPad‌ mini in 2020.

Kuo expects these devices to trickle out, basically. Some will launch in 2020, others in the following year. We’ve heard previously that both the 12.9-inch iPad Pro and the 16-inch MacBook Pro with mini-LED displays could see the light of day in 2020.

Interesting that the Apple Watch isn’t included in this list.

So, who’s excited about a potential 14.1-inch MacBook Pro with a mini-LED display?
