Jake James rewrites oob_timestamp exploit as Pwn20wnd plans integration with unc0ver

Those who’ve been keeping close tabs on the jailbreak community as of late should be keenly aware of Brandon Azad’s oob_timestamp exploit, which made iOS 13.0-13.3 support for A12(X)-A13 devices via the unc0ver jailbreak possible. As wonderful as it is, the oob_timestamp exploit isn’t without its shortcomings, such as memory leaks.

Given the aforementioned circumstances, a series of Tweets shared early this morning by renowned hacker Jake James may be considered great news for the jailbreak community:

From what we can gather, James has rewritten a substantial part of Azad’s oob_timestamp exploit, and in doing so, has done away with the memory leaks. What this means is that James’ exploit should be significantly more reliable for jailbreakers.

James also shared that he still needs to rewrite a plethora of functions and the ‘heap,’ and he isn’t yet sure how long this might take. On the other hand, Pwn20wnd took note of the Tweets this afternoon, and it now seems that James’ version of the exploit (allegedly dubbed time_waste) will soon be making its way into a future update to the unc0ver jailbreak:

Pwn20wnd also reaffirmed that an upcoming version of the unc0ver jailbreak would resolve issues for those using an iPhone XR on iOS 13.0-13.3, but there hasn’t yet been any sort of ETA announced for that update.

In what could only be described as a win/win for the jailbreak community, it seems that James’ exploit could make the unc0ver jailbreak even more stable than it already is.
