DigitalBattery13: A customizable battery indicator for notched iPhones

I was always the sort of person to enable the Battery Percentage option on all of my older iPhones, but since the introduction of notched handsets starting with the iPhone X in 2017, Apple appears to have nixed this feature from all but the non-notched handsets, requiring you to open Control Center to see a numeric battery percentage.

Those looking for a better battery indicator solution on their notch-equipped iPhones may want to try out a newly released and free jailbreak tweak called DigtalBattery13 by iOS developer Asterix. Just as the name implies, this tweak gives your handset an actual numeric battery readout as opposed to just an icon.

In the before and after screenshot examples above, you’ll see how the tweak replaces the traditional icon with a numeric readout, but this is just one of several styles provided by the tweak. Users can also opt to have the percentage displayed inside of the battery icon itself and more. Here are more examples for comparison:

Upon installing DigitalBattery13, users will find a dedicated preference pane in the Settings app where they can configure the tweak to their liking:

Here, you can:

  • Toggle DigitalBattery13 on or off on demand
  • Choose the indicator style you want to use:
    • Digital Battery
    • Apple’s method (no charging bolt)
    • Apple’s method (no fill and no charging bolt)
    • Apple’s method (stock)
  • Enable or disable showing the charging bolt with the battery percentage
  • Choose when the percent sign appears
  • Choose your preferred text alignment
  • Choose your preferred font size
  • Choose your preferred text X position
  • Choose your preferred text Y position
  • Enable or disable automatic sizing
  • Enable or disable bold font
  • Enable or disable mirrored text
  • Enable or disable tap gestures:
    • Double tap launches Low Power Mode
    • Tap and hold initiates a respring
  • Enable or disable battery indicator colorization
  • Choose a preferred Low Power Mode color
  • Choose a preferred low battery percentage color
  • Choose a preferred charging color

The developer includes a Respring button at the top right of the preference pane that should be used whenever you make changes. This ensures that your changes are appended.

While we definitely like being able to see a numeric battery percentage from anywhere, we also find that DigitalBattery13 shines in the function and aesthetics departments thanks to the gesture support and advanced colorization options.

Those interested in giving DigitalBattery13 a try can download the tweak for free from the BigBoss repository via their preferred package manager. The tweak supports jailbroken iOS 13 devices.
