Castmary gives your iPhone an iPad-like grid App Switcher

The App Switcher experience on the iPhone leaves a lot to be desired, especially if you’ve ever used an iPad before. That said, it’s mind-blowing that Apple hasn’t done anything about this yet.

If you’re tired of waiting for Apple to implement an official solution, then you can now take advantage of a new free jailbreak tweak called Castmary by iOS developer Simulation to get an iPad-style grid-based App Switcher on your iPhone or iPod touch.

As shown in the screenshot example above, Castmary redesigns the iPhone’s scrolling card-based App Switcher with a 4×4 grid instead. The grid lets you see more apps at a glance without hindering your view of the application’s preview card.

As you might come to expect, using the App Switcher works just the same — merely swipe up on application preview cards when you intend to force-close an app, and swipe left or right to see more application preview cards.

Castmary doesn’t come with any options to configure because it really has just one goal in mind and it accomplishes that goal very well. Those interested in trying Castmary can download it for free from the BigBoss repository in their preferred package manager.

The tweak officially supports jailbroken iOS 13 devices, and iOS 12 support is experimental at the time of this writing.
