Season 1 of Apple TV+ comedy “Mythic Quest: Raven’s Banquet” launches for binge-watching

“Mythic Quest: Raven’s Banquet,” a scripted comedy about a game development studio from “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” stars Rob McElhenney and Charlie Day, has debuted on Apple TV+ with all nine half-hour episodes of the show available to binge-watch now.

Aside from plenty of comedy, the show also tackles real world issues like crunch when a development team has to work increasingly difficult hours because some milestone is behind schedule. The show, as well as a few other key Apple TV+ offerings such as “For All Mankind”, “See”, “Servant” and “The Morning Show,” has already been renewed for a second season.

Here’s Apple’s description of “Mythic Quest”:

Meet the team behind the biggest multiplayer video game of all time. But in a workplace focused on building worlds, molding heroes and creating legends, the most hard-fought battles don’t occur in the game—they happen in the office.

And now, watch the official trailer for “Mythic Quest” embedded right ahead.

Games maker and publisher Ubisoft co-produced “Mythic Quest” alongside Lionsgate and 3 Arts Entertainment. We want this and similar shows such as “Silicon Valley” to be successful because they will hopefully pave the way for other great geek shows in the future.

According to Mashable’s Adam Rosenberg who has watched the entire first season of “Mythic Quest”, Apple’s first scripted comedy is “great” because it recreates both the games and the culture around them on TV without being mediocre.

In case it’s not clear, I adore this show and I very much hope Apple signs off on giving us more. The nine episodes we’re already getting are a gift, but there’s still plenty of fertile ground to explore with this crew. There have been so many failed attempts over the years to tell video game stories on TV and at the movies that ‘just fine’ would’ve been a welcome result. But ‘Mythic Quest’ is more than that.

It’s a smart and thoughtful dive into a world that the bulk of the mainstream knows very little about, propelled along by characters you can’t help but love and the kinds of laughs that have turned ‘It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia’ into an unstoppable force.
