Replica, Tangerine, Submarine Two, and other apps to check out this weekend

Apps of the week

In this edition of our Apps of the Week roundup we have a Chromecast mirroring tool, a mood and habit tracker, and a Reddit client with a unique interface. And as always, we’ve selected two great new games for you to check out.

Replica – Chromecast Mirroring

Replica is a handy little app that enables you to mirror your screen from your iPhone to a Chromecast TV. It streams in HD, with low latency, and works with videos, games photos and music. It obviously won’t work with DRM-protected apps, which don’t allow you to capture the screen, but otherwise you should be good.

Tangerine

Tangerine is a free and simple habit and mood tracker that helps you organize your routine, achieve your personal goals and reflect on your life. You can keep track of streaks, goals and completion rates for your habits, and then take a note at the end of the day to reflect on how it made you feel. Now there is a premium version, but you can try it out for free for a week.

Submarine Two

Submarine Two is Reddit client, but it also offers a desktop-quality multitasking experience. Tap and hold on any link to open it in the background, and then you can access it from the Dock. Think of it like tabs in a browser. It also supports Dark Mode, Homescreen Shortcuts, Dynamic Type, and much more.

Grand Mountain Adventure

Grand Mountain Adventure features huge mountains to explore, with runs in several directions—from backcountry areas to deep forests. There are beautiful ski resorts with busy slopes, obstacles like avalanches and angry bears to avoid, and tons of trials and challenges to discover. There’s even a fully-fledged trick system and controller support. The game is free to download, but an IAP is required to unlock the full version.

Retro Bowl

And just in time for next week’s big game here is Retro Bowl, a pixelated football game that has you manage and coach your team to victory. You handle everything from on-the-field play calls, to press duties, and even dealing with fragile egos. The game is free to check out, but as it seems to be a recurring theme today, there is an IAP for the ‘unlimited’ version. It’s only a buck though.
