It’s safe to say that truly wireless headphones are popular these days. And now Panasonic is getting in on the fun, too.
Announced today while this year’s Consumer Electronics Show (CES) is running, Panasonic is unveiling its first truly wireless in-ear headphones. It’s part of the company’s Technics brand, and it’s swinging for the fences right out of the gate with three models: RZ-S500W, RZ-S300W, and the EAH-AZ70W.
The RZ-S500W and RZ-S3ooW feature a MEMS microphone, and Panasonic describes both as featuring a labyrinth structure that’s designed to suppress external call interference and suppress wind noise. Each model is said to boast “industry-leading noise cancellation”.
Both models are IPX4-rated for water resistance, making them “splash-proof”. It takes just a single tap of the finger to turn either Ambient Sound mode on, or turn noise cancellation on or off, depending on your needs.
The RZ-S500W and the EAH-Az70W feature Dual Hybrid Noise Cancelling Technology, which “combines FeedForward Noise Cancelling (FF-NC), Feedback Noise Cancelling (FB-NC) and analog/digital processing”. All of that is to say that this should help reduce noise generated both on the inside and outside of the ear cups.
Battery life looks to be around six hours on a single charge, and up to 18 hours of battery life when used with the charging case. That’s for all three models. Each can connect to the Panasonic Audio Connect app as well, which will offer up custom sound preferences, the ability to track your battery life and get alerts when the headphones are low, and more.
According to the report, Panasonic says the new wireless headphones will launch sometime in June of this year. However, the company is not detailing how much each will cost just yet.
We know that JBL has a couple of new pairs of truly wireless headphones coming to market soon, too, with pricing starting at $100.
