iFixit uncases the new Mac Pro and offers first impressions

The Mac Pro is brand new, very expensive, and certainly not meant for every Mac user out there in the wild. But none of that is going to stop the folks at iFixit from looking under the hood.

This is not a full teardown of the new, modular Mac Pro. As we’ve seen from the iFixit crew in the past, they published a quick video of an initial first impression of the newest Apple-branded product, and they’re calling this one an uncasing.

Join us as we open up and give you our first impressions of Apple’s brand new Mac Pro LIVE. This $6000 machine is the first modular Apple computer in a long time, and we can’t wait to see just how it’s put together!

As is par for the course, iFixit hosted the initial first impressions live on YouTube, and you can watch the video below. The video is just over 19 minutes long, so if you’re curious to have a look under the case this is a great way to spend some time.

As noted by iFixit, this is the first modular Mac in a bit of a stretch, so it’s pretty cool to see how it all comes together underneath the casing. It shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise here, but it certainly sounds like all of the individual pieces here are all refined and well made. The case is easy to get off, and swapping individual parts on the inside appears quick and easy.

Additionally, Apple included a DIMM slot panel which will let owners easily identify which RAM they have installed.

It’s a fun watch, so check it out if you’re interested in the new Mac Pro’s internals. As for the full teardown, that will go live early next week.
