Michelle Obama, Ellen, and Apple donate iPads, Macs to elementary school in Washington, D.C.

Ellen DeGeneres, the host of the hit show Ellen, has never been one to shy away from big giveaways. And that trend continues with the “Greatest Night of Giveaways”.

Ellen teamed up with former First Lady Michelle Obama and Apple (along with Apple’s CEO, Tim Cook) to donate not only a wide range of Macs to the Randle Highlands Elementary School in Washington, D.C., but also iPads to the students — and a brand new outdoor basketball court (via MacRumors). The donations also include $100,000 in cash for the school, which has a high percentage of low-income students.

Cook had this to say on the donation:

Every child deserves the opportunity to create something that can change the world.

The donation will see the computer lab within the school being outfitted with brand new iMacs, and a MacBook Air for each teacher. But Obama also had a “one more thing!” moment, similar to Steve Jobs, and revealed that the donation will also see every student getting an iPad to help with their education as well.
