16-inch MacBook Pro may launch on November 13; new Mac Pro expected in December

There have been rumblings and grumblings that Apple is working on a slightly redesigned new MacBook Pro set to launch before the end of 2019, and now another report aims to corroborate all those earlier rumors.

Bloomberg has already shed a lot of light on the oft-rumored 16-inch MacBook Pro, including tidbits regarding the slightly smaller bezels around the slightly larger display, and, perhaps most importantly, the brand new keyboard design in the upcoming laptop. This latest report echoes most of what we already know, or at least have heard up to this point, but there are some new details.

Specifically, the report states that the new MacBook Pro will launch on Wednesday, November 13. When it arrives it will have the slightly larger display and the redesigned keyboard, dropping the troublesome butterfly mechanism in favor of a more traditional scissor switch.

The report states that this will hopefully make the new keyboards far more reliable than the models equipped with the butterfly design. While Apple has a keyboard replacement program in place for the butterfly keyboard, it has been adamant that the issues plaguing the keyboard have only impacted a small number of real world users.

Still, the issue have gone on for years, and now it looks like Apple is finally set to fix the problem.

This will be the first major update to the MacBook Pro line since it was redesigned three years ago. The new, brighter screen will come in a 16-inch version, up from the current 15-inch option, said the people, who asked not to be identified discussing unannounced products. The display will likely appeal to video and photo editors, gamers and software developers.

This report also includes a work on pricing, which states that this new 16-inch MacBook Pro will replace the current 15-inch model altogether. That starts at $2,399 and this new model will more than likely cost the same or at least be priced very similarly.

That’s not all, though! If you were expecting to see the new, redesigned Mac Pro launch before the end of November you might be let down a bit. According to this report Apple is planning to launch the Mac Pro before the end of December. While not specifically mentioned in this latest bit of news, it’s likely that Apple’s standalone Pro Display XDR will launch around the same time as the Mac Pro.

So, there we go. We have a pretty clear picture at this point, but we’re still missing the finer details. If you’ve been eagerly anticipating this new 16-inch MacBook Pro, it sounds like a launch is happening tomorrow.

Who’s excited?
