Sileo v1.5.0 brings 30% speed boost, iOS 13 support, and more

Anyone enjoying a jailbreak by way of the Electra Team’s Chimera or Electra tools will want to fire up the jailbreak’s native Sileo package manager and refresh its sources this weekend.

The Sileo Team released an updated version of the Sileo package manager on Saturday, bringing it up to version 1.5.0 with significant speed boosts, preliminary support for iOS 13, and dark mode-centric aesthetic improvements. The announcement was made early this morning via Twitter:

Citing to the Tweet, Sileo v1.5.0 is up to 30% faster than version 1.4.0, and these speed improvements should be discernible across the board, whether you have an older or newer iOS device. That said, those taking advantage of older handsets such as the iPhone 6 should find this update to be a lot snappier.

Sileo v1.5.0 also incorporates preliminary support for iOS 13, and while there isn’t a public jailbreak available for iOS 13 at the time of this writing, it’s worth noting that Electra Team lead CoolStar recently shared how he would be shifting developmental focus away from Electra and Chimera in favor of finding ways to utilize @axi0mX’s new checkm8 bootrom exploit for A5-A11 devices. Checkm8 can be used to jailbreak iOS 13, and so it should be interesting to see what becomes of this.

Lastly, the new dark mode interface brings aesthetic refinements to the Sileo app, giving users an improved viewing experience much like what they’d expect to see from a native app on iOS 13. It’s clear that the Sileo Team is trying to be as forward-thinking as they can be, and the new dark mode aesthetic is a testament to that idea.

There are no other significant changes in this release, but it is noteworthy to mention that the Chariz repository has been removed as a default repository since it recently merged with Packix.

Sileo v1.5.0 is no longer a public beta as of now, and so everyone on a supported jailbreak should now be able to snag this update after launching the app and refreshing their sources. The updated package manager will be found in the default Chimera or Electra repository, depending on the jailbreak you’re using.

Notably, Sileo isn’t yet officially available for Pwn20wnd’s unc0ver jailbreak, and  the non-jailbroken Sileo Demo hasn’t been updated with the latest changes for quite some time. These are just some things that we’d like to see change in the near future.
