Apple TV+ has reportedly renewed ‘For All Mankind’ and other shows for second seasons

Deadline reported Tuesday that the Cupertino tech giant has approved second seasons of “For All Mankind” (which apparently started production about a week ago), “The Morning Show” starring Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon, as well as a few other shows.

Also reportedly renewed or in the process of being renewed for a second season: Jason Momoa starrer “See”; Emily Dickinson comedy “Dickinson”; anthology immigrant comedy “Little America”; and the Hilde Lysiak young detective drama “Home Before Dark”.

It is part of a strategy by Apple to get second seasons of most of its scripted series going ahead of launch, which helps amortize costs and keep the Apple TV+ pipeline of original content going, avoiding lengthy hiatuses.

Ahead of the November 1 Apple TV+ debut, Apple yesterday premiered the sci-fi drama “For All Mankind” at the Regency Village Theater in Westwood, California. The first three episodes will be available beginning November 1 and new ones will roll out every Friday.

“For All Mankind” is a revisionist space drama from “Battlestar Galactica” creator Ron Moore, told through the lives of astronauts, engineers and their families. The show imagines a parallel reality in which the global space race never ended, Russians put the first man on the Moon and the space program ”remained the cultural centerpiece of America’s hopes and dreams.”

Apple TV+ is set to debut November 1 with a slate of about ten original TV shows, documentaries, kids series and more.

The service will cost five bucks per month with a 7-day free trial. New Apple device purchases starting September 10, 2019, are entitled to 12 free months of Apple TV+.

Apple TV+ supports subscription sharing with up to six people via the Family Sharing feature. It’ll be available on any device with the Apple TV app and on the web through tv.apple.com.
