Apple launches service program for iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus for ‘no power issues’

From time to time, Apple has a way of launching repair/service programs for its products. And now the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus has one of its own for a “no power” issue.

Apple has officially launched a new service program for the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, designed to alleviate an issue that is apparently affecting a small percentage of owners out in the real world. The issue is rooted in a specific component in the handsets that will apparently fail, and, when it does, the handsets will not turn on:

Apple has determined that certain iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus devices may not power on due to a component that may fail. This issue only affects devices within a limited serial number range that were manufactured between October 2018 to August 2019.

Apple’s official landing page for the service program has a dedicated spot where you can input your iPhone 6s or iPhone 6s Plus’s serial number to check if your handset is part of the covered program. If it is, you can have it patched up free of charge by Apple.

Apple notes that “no other iPhone models are part of this program”.

As usual, Apple has a few different options for service if your phone does fall under the program’s umbrella:

Choose one of the options below to have your iPhone 6s or iPhone 6s Plus serviced. Your iPhone will be examined prior to any service to verify that it is eligible for this program.

The landing page also notes that if your device has another issue that can impact the repair, like a cracked display, then that issue will need to be fixed first. Apple also makes sure to point out that the other repair, if needed, may have a cost associated with it.

Some other details to be aware of:

Apple may restrict or limit repair to the original country or region of purchase.

If you believe your iPhone 6s or iPhone 6s Plus was affected by this issue, and you paid to repair your device, you can contact Apple about a refund.

This worldwide Apple program doesn’t extend the standard warranty coverage of the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus.

The program covers affected iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus devices for 2 years after the first retail sale of the unit.

The new service program is now live.
