Rumored 16-inch MacBook Pro may be bundled with a 96W USB-C power adapter

Apple is expected to launch a new, slightly redesigned MacBook Pro at some point in the near future. And now a new rumor suggests it could come with a beefy power adapter in the box.

According to Chinese website Chongdiantu (via MacRumors), Apple is working on a 96W USB-C power adapter for a future product, which will likely be the oft-rumored 16-inch MacBook Pro. You can check out the blurry photo the original publication shared just below.

The product has a model identifier of A2166, and it will apparently be roughly the same size as the current 87W USB-C power adapter that Apple bundles with the 15-inch MacBook Pro right now.

Interestingly, Apple’s upcoming Pro Display XDR is capable of 96W pass-through charging. That’s more power than what’s necessary for any of Apple’s branded mobile products, so it seems like overkill at face value. However, with this newest rumor it could indicate that Apple is planning on making this change for a future product.

As far as the 16-inch MacBook Pro is concerned, rumors have it that Apple will announce the device at some point in the near future — potentially at another special event later this month. If that is the case, it could launch before the end of the year.

Is this a sign that a new MacBook Pro is on the way? It sure could be. If it is, are you in the market for a new laptop, and are you keeping an eye on this rumored MacBook Pro?
