Give your iPhone’s wallpaper a subtle blur with BlurryPaper

Whether you’re the type of person who enjoys detailed landscapes as your iPhone’s wallpaper, or you simply favor something subtle that gives your Home screen’s app icons the spotlight, there’s probably something out there for you.

But for those who demand a stronger sense of wallpaper customization, a newly released and free jailbreak tweak called BlurryPaper by iOS developer Ziph0n lets you apply custom blurs to your wallpaper to generate some particularly stunning visual effects.

As shown in the screenshot examples above, BlurryPaper lets you generate different aesthetics with the same wallpaper image.

Upon installing the tweak, you’ll find a preference pane in the Settings app where you can configure BlurryPaper to your liking:

Here, you can:

  • Toggle BlurryPaper on or off on demand
  • Enable a normal blur style
  • Enable a light blur style
  • Enable a dark blur style (similar to iOS 13 in Do Not Disturb mode)

The developer provides a Save Changes and Respring button at the bottom of the preference pane, and this should be used any time you make changes to ensure that they take effect.

While some wallpapers look best just as they come, we think that a subtle blur can help make your Home screen’s app icons pop under the right circumstances, especially in tandem with a gorgeous theme. Opinions may vary, but then again, no one’s forcing you to use BlurryPaper.

If you’re interested in trying BlurryPaper, then you can download the tweak for free from the Packix repository in Cydia or Sileo. The tweak supports all jailbroken iOS 11 and 12 devices.
