This tweak prevents you from adding duplicate tracks to Music playlists

If you take advantage of Apple’s native Music app to enjoy songs from your favorite artists, then you probably already know just how easy it is to add the same song to a playlist more than once.

Although Apple hasn’t integrated any safeguards against duplicate songs in your playlists, iOS developer Frozen Penguin is here with a solution in the form of a new and free jailbreak tweak called Dejavu2.

As shown in the screenshot example above, Dejavu2 displays a simple alert front and center on your display when you attempt to add a song to a playlist that’s already there. Consequently, you won’t ever have any duplicate songs in any of your playlists.

The tweak automatically grays out songs that have already been added to your playlists, and so it reduces redundancy and helps you keep your content both captivating and concise for the listener.

If the concept sounds familiar, then that’s because this is actually the second iteration of a similar tweak released back in 2016. The newest release is compatible with the latest version of iOS, as well as the latest version of Apple’s Music app; moreover, it even works on A12(X) devices.

Once installed, Dejavu2 puts a preference pane in the Settings app where you can configure the tweak to your liking:

Here, you can:

  • Toggle Dejavu2 on or off on demand
  • Toggle graying out duplicate songs
  • Toggle preventing adding duplicate songs

A respring button is provided by the developer at the top right of the preference pane so you can save your setting choices.

If you’re interested in trying Dejavu2, then you can download it for free from the Packix repository in Cydia or Sileo. Dejavu2 supports all versions of iOS 12, and those using earlier versions of jailbroken iOS can use the previous version of the tweak.
