Glance brings a new charging animation and battery data to your Lock screen

One of the most important things you can ever monitor on your iPhone or iPad at any given time is its battery level, and if you agree with this sentiment, then you’ll probably take a liking to a newly released jailbreak tweak called Glance by iOS developer KushyDaBush.

As you’ll see in the screenshot examples above, Glance brings a battery-centric makeover to your iOS device’s Lock screen, offering a continuous display of your handset’s current battery level right underneath its date and time display.

Right out of the box, Glance is OLED-friendly; its pitch-black background lets individual pixels on the display turn off completely, and the green charging animation that appears when you plug your handset in is just as exciting:

Once installed, Glance puts a preference pane in the Settings app where you can configure it to your liking:

Here, you can:

  • Enable or disable Glance on demand
  • Choose between Extended, Simple, or Lefty clock styles
  • Choose a custom Lock screen timeout (in seconds)
  • Enable or disable the charging animation
  • Choose between Simple or Original music player styles
  • Choose a custom number of taps (1, 2, 3, 4, or 5)

The developer provides a Respring button at the top right of the interface, and it should be used any time you make changes to the tweak’s settings to ensure that they take effect.

Glance can be downloaded for free from the BigBoss repository in Cydia or Sileo right now, but users will be prompted to purchase the tweak for $1.49 from its preference pane after installing. Whether or not it’s worth that much comes down to just how much you appreciate a battery-centric Lock screen and a custom charging animation.

Glance plays nicely with all jailbroken devices running iOS 11 and later.
