Jailbreak tweaks of the week: Appaze, PortraitXI, WeatherUnlockText, and more

We fashion together an easy-to-digest jailbreak tweak roundup every week such that you can make well-informed decisions about what to install on your pwned handset. This week is no different.

In this roundup, we’ll talk about all the latest jailbreak tweaks to be released on most significant repositories from Monday, August 5th to Sunday, August 11th. As always, we’ll discuss our favorite releases first and then cap things off with an outline of the rest afterward.

Our favorite releases this week

Appaze – $0.99

If, like me, you use your iPhone as a multi-tool for a wide variety of things, then you’ll come to appreciate a new jailbreak tweak dubbed Appaze rather quickly.

This tweak lets you configure custom display brightness and speaker volume levels on a per-app basis, directly from the Home screen’s 3D Touch menus.

You can learn more about how the tweak works and its practical uses in our full review.

PortraitXI – $4.99

Portrait mode and the many photo-editing benefits it provides can make or break a beautiful photograph of your subject. On the other hand, Apple seems to have limited this feature to dual-lensed iPhones, apart from the iPhone XR.

PortraitXI is a jailbreak tweak that ports Portrait mode to unsupported single-lensed handsets, including the iPhone 6s and later. The tweak can also be used on dual-lensed handsets to include unsupported photo editing features, among other things.

You can learn more about PortraitXI and what it brings to the table in our full review.

WeatherUnlockText – FREE

Your iPhone’s Lock screen displays the text ‘press home to unlock’ or ‘swipe up to unlock’ depending on the make and model you have. While Apple’s intentions were good in this department, it’s somewhat unnecessary for someone who’s owned an iPhone for several years and already knows the process to unlock it.

If you’re interested in replacing this text with something more useful, then we’d recommend checking out a newly-released jailbreak tweak called WeatherUnlockText. As the name implies, this tweak replaces the aforementioned text string with the current weather conditions.

You can learn more about WeatherUnlockText and where you can find it in our full review.

If you’re looking for more tweaks, then consider adding third-party Cydia repositories to your device to expand your scope and check out last week’s jailbreak tweak roundup in case you might’ve missed anything.
