Two unreleased iPads surface in the Eurasian Economic Commission database

Apple’s registered a pair of unreleased iPads bearing the model identifiers A2200 and A2232, running iPadOS, suggesting launch this fall. Earlier this month, five other identifiers referring to unreleased iPad models were added to the Eurasian Economic Commission database.

Like prior listings, the latest ones were uncovered by MySmartPrice. Keep in mind that model identifiers are different for Wi-Fi-only and Wi-Fi + Cellular editions so these filings shouldn’t be interpreted as a sign that more than half a dozen brand-new iPads are in the works.

The filings also mention several Mac models, but as MacRumors noted all of them reference machines that are already available, “suggesting the filings are simply being updated to reflect models shipping with macOS Catalina, also due to be released in the fall.”

All companies are legally required to obtain permission before selling any encrypted devices in Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Russia. The filings give hawk-eyed journalists an answer to the important question: what might be coming down the pike from Apple next?

With the 7.9-inch iPad mini 5 and the third-generation iPad Air featuring a 10.5-inch display released earlier this year, Apple still has to issue annual refreshes to the iPad Pro line. Furthermore, the company has not updated the entry-level $329 9.7-inch iPad.

For what it’s worth, Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said in February to expect faster iPad Pros along with a budget iPad sporting a 10.2-inch display. And in May, the analyst followed up with a note to clients saying the new tablets will adopt modified polyamide antennae technology and enter mass production in the fourth quarter of 2019 or the first quarter of 2020.

At the start of 2019, Bloomberg first reported there would be an updated version of the current 9.7-inch iPad with a bigger display and a faster processor.

The refresh budget tablet is said to retain Touch ID and the headphone jack.
