Apple Card may launch in Canada in 2019

The Apple Card is set to launch in the United States sometime in the summer, and now it sounds like the physical credit card is heading to Canada in the near future.

According to a report from The Star, Apple has filed the necessary paperwork in Canada to prepare the region for the launch of the Apple Card, and also Apple Pay Cash as well. The report states that Apple has filed applications to trademark brand names for both services. The paperwork was filed with the Canadian Intellectual Property Office (CIPO) for the Apple Card on July 15.

Apple filed similar applications for Apple Pay Cash, its money transferring service, on July 17.

As noted in the original report, it takes about 10 months for this type of application to be approved. That could give a clear sign that Apple is planning on launching either Apple Pay Cash, or the Apple Card — or both! — in Canada sometime in 2019. It’s also possible that Apple Cash gets a faster approval and could launch this fall.

Nothing is confirmed just yet. Rumors have also suggested Apple is planning on launching the Apple Card in Europe and Hong Kong in the near future.

As it stands right now, Apple has not nailed down a launch date for the Apple Card just yet. However, with iOS 12.4 expected to launch in the near future, it’s believed that the credit card will launch along with the software update very soon.

Are you looking forward to the impending arrival of the Apple Card? And if you’re in Canada, are you hoping the service launches soon?
