Jailbreak tweaks of the week: Dune, RePower XII, Vartaman, and more

Now that the WWDC 2019-centric iOS 13 excitement has come and gone, the jailbreak community is back to manufacturing jailbreak tweaks to improve the iOS experience on older versions of iOS.

It can be challenging to keep track of everything in the midst of your busy life, and so this roundup serves to talk about all the latest jailbreak tweaks that were released in the past week. As usual, we’ll kick things off by discussing our favorites and then outline the rest afterward.

Our favorite releases this week

Dune – FREE

Dark mode is an appealing feature to have on any iOS device, but why lose your jailbreak and upgrade to iOS 13 when you can have it right now on a jailbroken installation of iOS 11 or iOS 12?

Dune is a free and open-source tweak that darkens a significant percentage of UI elements found throughout iOS, including notification banners, Today widgets, folder backgrounds, and more. You can customize the darkness intensity, and the tweak can be coupled with Eclipse for a system-wide iOS 13-esque look and feel.

RePower XII – $1.00

RePower XII is a pleasant alternative to Apple’s poor excuse for a power down screen. Right out of the box, it offers useful additions to the native power down function, including reboot, respring, safe mode, and clear UICache, among other things.

RePower XII can also optionally display RAM usage and device uptime in the same interface, which we think is a wonderful touch.

Vartaman – $1.49

Vartaman is a newly-released jailbreak tweak that ensures you have a fresh new iPhone wallpaper to look at throughout your day. As the day progresses, the tweak automatically fetches a new wallpaper from various sources of your choosing and applies them in the background.

Vartaman also notifies you each time a wallpaper changes with a convenient little banner notification, and so you’ll never look at your iPhone with a confused face upon seeing a wallpaper you didn’t set.
