In this edition of our Apps of the Week roundup we have an AR app for hand puppets, a choose-your-own-adventure video editor, and a powerful thesaurus app. And as always, we’ve selected two great new games for you to check out.
YoPuppet
Here’s a clever use of augmented reality. YoPuppet allows you to bring virtual hand puppets wherever you go. Easily create everything from short clips you hope to viral Instagram to full-blown puppet shows, and everything in between. The possibilities are endless, as new puppet characters are added every week.
Brancher
Brancher allows you to create interactive videos right on your iOS device. The app lets you embed multi-choice buttons at various points in your videos so viewers can decide which path to take. Each button creates its own branch that splits off into an an alternative path in the story. The number of paths is unlimited and only bound by your imagination. Don’t want to make your own videos? Check out other’s stories.
Multisaurus
Multisaurus is a powerful and exciting new approach to the standard thesaurus app. It doesn’t just offer up synonyms, but it helps you discover the connections between synonyms of multiple words. It is connected to multiple thesauruses (thesauri?), you can find the synonyms of multiple words, and you can even find the synonyms of a word excluding other synonyms. I know, crazy. This seems like an invaluable tool for writers and worth checking out.
Cessabit
Cessabit in Latin means calm, and thus makes a perfect title for this little zen puzzler. Players must remember what they see and answer the questions; inspect each illustration for clues, tap objects for hints and solve complicated objectives. The game offers 24 peaceful levels with beautiful line art and calming nature sounds. There are no ads or in-app purchases and you can play offline. Relax, go do it!
Forgotton Anne
If you’re looking for something a little more involved, check out Forgotton Anne. This popular platform puzzler provides a seamless cinematic adventure with meaningful storytelling. You play Anne, the enforcer who keeps order in the Forgotton Lands, as she sets out to squash a rebellion that might prevent you from returning to the human world. Beautiful artwork, tons of heart, worth checking out.
