One of the most exciting things you can do with a jailbroken handset to help it stand out from the crowd is customize its aesthetics. There are many ways you can do this, from applying themes to installing tweaks that change system colors and more.

One of the latest releases that can help in this department is a jailbreak tweak called Dapple by iOS developer dpkg_, which lets users colorize their iOS device’s Status Bar on a per-item basis.

As you’ll notice in the screenshot examples above, Dapple has been used to customize the colors of various Status Bar elements, including:

  • The cellular signal strength indicator
  • The date and time indicator
  • The Location services indicator
  • The Wi-Fi indicator
  • The battery level indicator
  • The Do Not Disturb indicator
  • And more…

Upon installation, you’ll find a dedicated preference pane in the Settings app where you can configure Dapple to your liking:

Here, you can:

  • Choose a desired Wi-Fi indicator color
  • Choose a desired cellular signal indicator color
  • Choose a desired Status Bar text color
  • Choose a desired “Other Items” color
  • Choose a desired battery body color
  • Choose a desired battery fill color
  • Choose a desired Battery pin color
  • And more…

As you’ll see for yourself, each item comes with color presets, allowing for any of the following color choices:

  • Default
  • Red
  • Blue
  • Cyan
  • Magenta
  • Yellow
  • Orange
  • Green
  • Gray

The developer includes a Respring button at the top right of the preference pane so that you can save all changes made to the preference pane after setting your preferred colors.

NOTE: According to the developer, Dapple is designed to work on the newer Status Bar used on the iPhone X, XR, XS, and XS Max. With that in mind, it won’t work on the traditional Status Bar used on older iPhones without notches without the help of a tweak like LittleXS.

Those interested in trying Dapple can download it for $0.99 from the Packix repository in Cydia or Sileo. The tweak has been verified to work on jailbroken iOS 11 and 12 devices, including the A12(X) variety.
