Apple updates WWDC app with customizable icon, new iMessage stickers, and more

We know that this year’s Worldwide Developers Conference starts on Monday, June 3. And we know that the keynote will kick off on that same day at 10:00 AM PT. Ahead of the week-long conference, Apple has updated the official WWDC iOS app.

Apple has updated the WWDC app twice this month. The first time was back on the 2nd, when Apple added support for additional languages, support for Handoff, and a bit more. However, this latest update adds the ability to change the app’s icon, as well as allows iOS users to get festive with iMessage stickers inspired by the event.

The latest update brings the official WWDC iOS app to version 7.3. With it, Apple is including minor improvements behind-the-scenes, as well as the standard bug fixes that have cropped up. The app now supports “virtual queuing for labs”, and a new area to manage notifications.

One of the biggest elements of the update is the ability to change the app’s icon on your home screen. Apple is allowing users to select from a variety of different colors. The app icon’s background is dark, with the Apple logo getting the color changes. There are eight options, ranging from light blue to green, with pink, purple, blue, and lime some of the other choices.

The updated WWDC app also includes new iMessage stickers.

Here is the official changelog from Apple:

Thank you for your feedback. This update adds a new profile area for managing notifications, virtual queuing for labs, and app icon selection, in addition to minor improvements and bug fixes.

The WWDC iOS app is free to install. It’s certainly a handy tool on its own, but it’s especially helpful for developers and other attendees to the event itself thanks to the different tools baked into the software.

With WWDC right around the corner, what are you hoping to see out of the conference this year?
