Rounding up today’s updates, Apple also made the macOS Mojave 10.14.5 software update available for public consumption, bringing support for AirPlay 2 so people could beam their favorite shows to their smart TVs and other devices.
The update can be installed on your Mac by clicking Software Update in System Preferences.
The official macOS Mojave 10.14.5 changelog lists all the changes and fixes:
- Adds AirPlay 2 support for sharing videos, photos, music and more from your Mac directly to your AirPlay 2-enabled smart TV.
- Adds the ability to follow a magazine from the Apple News+ catalog browsing view (US and Canada only).
- Improves audio latency on MacBook Pro models introduced in 2018.
- Fixes an issue that prevented certain very large OmniOutliner and OmniPlan documents from rendering properly.
- Disables accessories with insecure Bluetooth connections.
Information about the security content of the update is listed in a support document on Apple’s website. Aside from user features, the update includes a pair of fixes for enterprise users:
- Fixes an issue that prevented resetting the user account password from the login window after using a personal recovery key (PRK) to unlock the FileVault volume.
- Fixes an issue that prevented the
InstalledApplicationListMDM command from recognizing that updates are available for apps installed via VPP.
The macOS Mojave 10.14.5 software is available as a combo or regular update.
The combo update, weighing in at 2.62 gigabytes, basically allows you to update any Mac model running macOS Mojave 10.14 to the latest 10.14.5 build. The regular update is a bit smaller at 2.5 gigabytes because it requires the previous macOS Mojave 10.14.4 version.
Additionally, Apple has brought some of the security fixes in Mojave 10.14.5 to Mac computers running the older High Sierra or Sierra versions of macOS with a 1.9-gigabyte download for High Sierra and a 852-megabyte download for Sierra, respectively.
