Improve your iPhone’s clipboard management capabilities with Copypasta

It’s no secret that iOS’ native clipboard leaves a lot to be desired, and that should underscore why there’s been such an uptick in the number of clipboard manager-centric apps and jailbreak tweaks for iOS as of late.

Although we’ve come to appreciate much of what’s available already, we’re also excited to discuss a new free release called Copypasta by iOS developer Nepeta. Its ultra-clean interface paired with the lack of a price tag make it a compelling option for many.

As you’ll notice in the screenshot examples above, Copypasta adds a specialized grabber to the bottom of the keyboard interface whenever you begin typing in any app on your handset. Tapping once on the grabber launched the Copypasta interface, allowing you to see everything you’ve copied or cut elsewhere in iOS.

One thing we especially like about Copypasta is that it reveals the app from which the clipboard entry was copied or cut. When you tap on any of those items, the tweak automatically inserts it wherever your cursor is at that moment in time.

Copypasta adds a preference pane to the Settings app where you can configure the tweak to your liking:

Here, you can:

  • Toggle the tweak on or off on demand
  • Choose between automatic, light, or dark color styles
  • Blur the background whenever Copypasta is open
  • Hide or show the application names in the Copypasta interface
  • Hide or show the application icons in the Copypasta interface
  • Dismiss the Copypasta interface when you paste something from it
  • Use the dictation button to launch Copypasta instead of the grabber
  • Expand the Copypasta interface automatically when you copy or cut something
  • Prevent the keyboard interface from being pushed up for the grabber
  • Configure a custom height for the Copypasta interface
  • Choose how many items will appear in the Copypasta running history
  • Restore all settings to their defaults and respring

Based on just how much you can do with Copypasta, the beautifully-polished user interface, and the lack of a price tag, it’s hard not to recommend to everyone.

The only thing we found to be a nuisance about it was that the grabber makes it tempting to want to swipe up, which clashes with the Control Center gesture on older, non-notched devices. Obviously, you can tap on the grabber to use the tweak or use the dictation button option instead to avoid this. Notched handsets won’t have this issue from the get-go since the Control Center gesture originates at the top of the display.

If you’re interested in trying Copypasta, then you can download it for free from the Nepeta repository in Cydia or Sileo. The tweak supports all jailbroken iOS 11 and 12 devices and is open source via the developer’s GitHub page.

Don’t forget to drop a comment below letting us know what you thought about the Copypasta interface and whether you’ll be adding it to your jailbreak tweak arsenal.
