AutoInvert automatically toggles Smart Invert based on your display brightness level

A hidden accessibility feature on your iPhone called Smart Invert lets you enjoy a Dark Mode-like experience on your handset on demand, but you still need to invoke it manually if you wish to use it.

With that in mind, iOS developer Cole Cabral has just released a new jailbreak tweak in Cydia called AutoInvert that automatically facilitates your handset’s Smart Invert feature based on your current display brightness level.

The developer recommends using AutoInvert with iOS’ native automatic display brightness feature, as it lets the tweak automatically toggle SmartInvert on or off depending on your surrounding lighting conditions.

Once you install AutoInvert, you’ll find a dedicated preference pane in the Settings app where you can configure the tweak to your liking:

Here, you can:

  • Enable or disable AutoInvert on demand
  • Configure a display brightness threshold that defines when Smart Invert gets enabled

As it would seem, a respring isn’t necessary to save your changes.

In the case above, Smart Invert would be enabled after your display brightness drops below 50%, which is usually the case when you’re in a dark or dimly-lit room. Anything above 50% toggles Smart Invert off, providing you with normal colors.

If you’re interested in experiencing an automatic Smart Invert feature on your jailbroken iPhone or iPad, then you can download AutoInvert for just $0.50 from Cydia’s Packix repository. The tweak supports all iOS 11 and 12 devices.
