DNDAllow lets you configure Do Not Disturb on a per-app basis

iOS’ native Do Not Disturb feature is immeasurably useful for those instances when you don’t want to be disturbed by phone calls, social media, and text messages. On the other hand, that doesn’t always mean you want all your apps to be silenced.

DNDAllow is a new free jailbreak tweak by iOS developer Karimo299 that lets you designate Do Not Disturb on a per-app basis, effectively letting you receive notifications from specific apps even when your iPhone’s Do Not Disturb mode is toggled on.

The tweak adds a preference pane to the Settings app where you can configure its behavior to your personal needs:

Here, you can:

  • Enable or disable DNDAllow on demand
  • Select which apps will be allowed to permeate iOS’ Do Not Disturb filter

The developer provides a Respring button at the bottom of the preference pane that you’ll want to use whenever you make changes to the settings. This ensures that the changes are appended to your device and that your Do Not Disturb settings will behave as expected.

We particularly appreciate the concept behind DNDAllow because we can continue to receive important system notifications such as App Store app updates and Clock app-based alarms, but you’ll want to be conservative when turning certain apps on, otherwise you’ll be undermining the whole purpose of Do Not Disturb in its entirety.

As a side note, don’t forget that text message conversations can be set to Do Not Disturb individually from the Messages app by hiding alerts on a per-conversation basis. A jailbreak is not required to do this.

If you’re interested in trying DNDAllow, then you can download the tweak for free from Cydia’s Packix repository. DNDAllow supports all jailbroken iOS 11 and 12 devices and is open-source on the developer’s GitHub repository.
