Maple brings the AirPower charging interface to your jailbroken iPhone

Apple may have officially canceled its AirPower concept due to manufacturing difficulties, but that doesn’t mean that jailbreakers can’t enjoy an AirPower-like experience when charging their multitude of Apple devices.

iOS developer LaughingQuoll has released Maple, a new jailbreak tweak that displays all actively-charging devices connected to your handset as individual AirPower-style banners on the Lock screen.

In the instance of the screenshot example above, you can see that the tweak displays the iPhone itself, an Apple Watch, and the AirPods with the charging case separately when they begin charging nearby. When the devices stop charging, they’ll disappear from your Lock screen, much like what we’d expect from using Apple’s now-canceled AirPower charging mat.

After you’ve installed Maple, you’ll find a preference pane in the Settings app:

Here, you can:

  • Toggle Maple on or off on demand
  • Configure a custom banner size
    • Small
    • Normal
    • Large
  • Enable dark Maple banners (or leave disabled for light)
  • Allow group banners
  • Receive Maple banners anywhere throughout iOS
  • Enable faster animations

The developer includes a respring button at the bottom of the preference pane that you should use to save your changes after you’ve finished configuring the tweak.

Apple never officially enabled the native assets for AirPower in iOS 12 since the product was never officially released, so Maple utilizes a custom interface that works with all jailbroken installations of iOS 12. Furthermore, those who use Dark Mode-centric tweaks like Noctis to achieve a dark appearance will have no problems with Maple, as shown.

If you’re interested in trying Maple, then it’s available for $2.99 from the Packix repository in Cydia or Sileo. The tweak supports several iterations of devices, with more support for other devices coming soon.
