Apple Music for Android picks up Chromebook support and a revamped Browse tab

The official Apple Music app for Android was updated this morning on Play Store, picking up the same overhauled and reorganized Browse tab which came to iOS last week, along with a cool perk for Google fans in the form of support for the Chromebook computers.

According to the changelog on Play Store, the latest update includes support for Chromebooks, various bug fixes and “more editorial highlights in Browse.”

The new Browse tab arrived to iPhone and iPad last week.

Here’s a quick summary of all the changes in Browse:

  • Daily Top 100: Apple’s popular playlist with daily hits is easier to find below the carousel at the very top of the interface. Available since last September, the Global Top 100 playlists are also much easier to find in Browse.
  • Weekend Warrior: This is a new section with weekend-themed playlists. These playlists were available before, but they’re now definitely way easier to find.
  • Just Updated: Apple-curated playlists are dynamically updated on a weekly basis, but knowing when the playlists you follow have received new content is easier said than done. The Cupertino company has solved this discovery issue by listing all the freshly updated playlists across genres and moods underneath the Just Updated heading.
  • We’re Loving: Found near the bottom of the interface, this cool new section highlights music albums that have been recommended by the Apple Music editorial team.
  • Get Down Tonight: If you feel like dancing, this is where you’ll find the right music.

Browse tab is only visible if you’re an Apple Music subscriber.

As we reported last week, the new layout is clearer and optimized for displaying more content with less scrolling, making it easier to discover new music, playlists and more.

Apple regularly updates the Android client with new features previously launched on iOS: it added lyric search and the Friend Mix playlist last August, and tablet support in December.
