Access your favorite apps faster with AppShortcut

I’ve always been a fan of application shortcut-centric jailbreak tweaks, and that’s one of the reasons why I’m excited to show you a new release called AppShortcut by iOS developer donbytyqi.

AppShortcut is a customizable system-wide application shortcut interface that provides you with quick access to your favorite apps whether you’re on the Lock screen, Home screen, or in the middle of an app already.

Post-installation, AppShortcut behaves a lot like iOS’ native AssistiveTouch feature, collapsing into a small circle and fading away when not in use. When you’re ready to use the app launcher again, simply tap on it and you’ll be presented with a list of your designated apps.

AppShortcut adds a preference pane to the Settings app where you can customize it to your unique needs:

Here, you can:

  • Toggle AppShortcut on or off on demand
  • Configure which apps appear in the AppShortcut interface
  • Configure which apps the AppShortcut interface won’t appear in
  • Toggle Dark Mode on or off on demand
  • Enable free-form mode

The developer includes a blue Respring button at the bottom of the preference pane, which should be used any time you make changes to ensure they’re appended to your device.

We particularly like that you can disable the AppShortcut interface for specific apps because this might be necessary in certain full-screen interfaces such as games to prevent gesture conflicts and other unwanted nuisances.

If you’re in need of a quick-access app launcher, then you might want to give AppShortcut a try. The tweak is available for $1.99 from Cydia’s Packix repository and plays nicely with all jailbroken iOS 12 devices.
