New report says next-gen AirPods coming in the spring

A new report from Taiwanese publication Economic Daily News claims that the oft-rumored, next-gen AirPods will be ready to launch in the spring, with an all-new black colorway and wireless charging.

In terms of design, compared with the previous generation of wireless Bluetooth headsets, the new AirPods will adopt a new surface coating design, and the charging box will adopt the same technology to maintain the integration of the two. In addition, the new AirPods will also add black for consumers to choose, so that the headset is available in both black and white.

The outlet adds that Apple supplier Inventec has already begun manufacturing the next-generation AirPods, possibly alongside the long-delayed AirPower accessory, and they are expected to cost $199.

Few other details are known at this point, including what part of spring the new AirPods could launch in. Apple is of course said to be planning an event for March 25, but it is believed to have a focus on services.
