Pwn20wnd updates the unc0ver v2.1.0 public release to ‘fix weird issues’

New Year’s Eve was a busy day for hacker and unc0ver lead-developer Pwn20wnd. Shortly after dropping the official public release of unc0ver v2.1.0, Pwn20wnd issued a quick revision for the jailbreak tool comprised of bug fixes.

Pwn20wnd announced the revision Monday evening via Twitter, noting that the contained fixes targeted “weird issues” being experienced by some users:

The changelog for the new unc0ver v2.1.0 revision has been published on Pwn20wnd’s official GitHub repository, and cites the changes listed below:

12/31/2018 – v2.1.0 was updated for production with the following changes:

– Fix a bug in the posix_spawn wrapper that would cause weird issues on some devices (Known for causing the “(24/40)” issue)

Notably, the revision wasn’t substantial enough to warrant a new version number for unc0ver; v2.1.0 continues to be the latest iteration of the iOS 11-centric jailbreak tool.

As with all official public releases, we recommend all unc0ver users update to the latest version of the jailbreak tool at their earliest convenience to ensure the most stable experience possible. It’s available as a free download from Pwn20wnd’s official GitHub repository.

To update unc0ver on your jailbroken handset, reboot to exit the jailbroken state, install the latest unc0ver release via Cydia Impactor, and re-run the tool to re-enter the jailbroken state.

Unc0ver is a semi-tethered jailbreak just like Electra, which means you must re-run the tool after every reboot. That aside, it bundles a newer iOS 11-optimized build of Cydia that sports the official seal of approval from Saurik himself.

If you’ve never used unc0ver before, and plan to do so now, then you can follow our in-depth tutorial about how to install and run the unc0ver jailbreak. The unc0ver jailbreak tool supports all devices that can run iOS 11.0-11.4 beta 3.
