Dark Mode jailbreak tweaks have become quite the hot commodity among iPhone and iPad users, especially considering how Apple officially supports the feature on macOS. But wouldnât it be nice to have a reliable all-in-one solution for all your apps and user interfaces rather than installing several jailbreak tweaks to achieve the same result?
If you answered âyesâ to that question, then youâre in luck; a new jailbreak tweak called Nightshade by iOS developer Dylan Duff promises âan all-in-one iOS Dark Modeâ that promises to âtheme almost every aspect of the UI.â
Right out of the box, Nightshade themes all native iOS apps with the Dark Mode aesthetic, but it also seems to play nicely with third-party apps that donât utilize iOSâ cookie-cutter interface template:
Nightshade adds a preference pane to the Settings app where you can configure a bevy of options:
Here, you can:
- Whitelist the apps that you want to be impacted by Nightshade
- Configure a specific theme youâd like to use
- Choose a background color for all your apps
- Choose a cell color for relevant apps
- Choose a text color for all your apps
- Choose a navigation bar color for all your apps
- Choose a cell separator color for relevant apps
- Choose an accent color for relevant apps
Digging deeper, youâll also find the following options:
- Tint incoming notifications
- Use a light tint
- Use a dark tint
- Adjust the intensity
- Tint widgets
- Use a light tint
- Use a dark tint
- Adjust the intensity
- Colorize the Home screen Dock
- Colorize Folder icons
- Colorize the Status Bar text
- Theme pop-up alerts
And lastly, youâll be able to:
- Theme web views in the Safari app
- Toggle rounded Settings tables on or off
While most Dark Mode-centric jailbreak tweaks stop at darkening the UI of your apps, Nightshade takes things a step further by providing you with blackened web pages in Safari and darkened notifications and widgets.
We particularly like this concept of one-stop-shop regarding Dark Mode because there are just too many different Dark Mode tweaks in Cydia and no one wants to install them all when they can just install a single tweak to do everything.
As of this writing, Nightshade is in its âEarly Accessâ stages, which means its feature set is subject to change before the initial release. Nevertheless, the developer assures us that itâs nearly finished and will be taken out of its Early Access stages soon.
If youâre interested in trying Nightshade, then you can download it for $2.00 from Cydiaâs Packix repository. The developer also provides a Lite version of Nightshade for free from Cydiaâs Packix repository if youâre interested in trying it out beforehand. Both tweaks are intended for jailbroken iOS 11 devices.
