AppleCare+ iPhone XR pricing announced, optional theft and loss coverage available

Apple has introduced AppleCare+ pricing for the recently released iPhone XR. Like with the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max, Apple is offering a plan that covers theft and loss this year for the first time.

The AppleCare+ for iPhone with Theft and Loss Coverage plan for the iPhone XR is $249 or $12.99 per month. With this plan, you receive everything that’s included in the standard AppleCare+ for iPhone plan, plus extras. Here is how the two programs compare:

AppleCare+ for iPhone covers up to two incidents of accidental damage coverage, each subject to the service fees, plus applicable tax. You’ll also get Express Replacement Service and 24/7 priority access to Apple experts by chat or phone. Under this plan, the screen damage deductible is $29, while accidental coverage is $99.

The standard plan for the iPhone XR is $149 or $7.99 per month.

AppleCare+ for iPhone with Theft and Loss includes up to two incidents of accidental damage, theft, or loss coverage, each subject to deductibles. You also receive Express Replacement Service and 24/7 priority access to Apple experts by chat or phone. With this type of coverage, you must have the Find My iPhone feature enabled on your device at the time it is lost or stolen.

Under this plan, the screen damage deductible is $29, while accidental coverage is $99. When there are theft and losses involved, the deduction is $229 for the iPhone XR.

If you own an iPhone XR and don’t buy insurance, screen repair on your device will cost $199 per incident with other damage listed at $399.

Pre-orders for the 6.1-inch iPhone XR started last week in 50 countries and territories. The handset is available beginning this Friday, Oct. 26 at $749.
