These conceptual renderings have us sold on iPhone X-like design for 2018 iPad Pro

Apple’s iPad Pros for 2018 are just around the corner and speculation surround them certainly isn’t dying down. With a little more than a week left before the scheduled media event takes place, a 3D artist has released a batch of wonderfully executed renderings that imagine an iPad Pro overhaul featuring a fullscreen design. We’re liking what we’re seeing, a lot!

Hungarian 3D artist Viktor Kádár has published the renderings shown here on his Behance page—and boy do they look great, almost like the real deal! In putting these high-quality mockups together, he used Adobe’s Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign and Lightroom creative apps, plus the popular image editor Pixelmator and 3D software Rhinoceros and Keyshot.

“My goal was to create better and more detailed 3D renders than the current ones,” said the Budapest, Hungary-based artist. The next iPad Pro refresh is said to bring an iPhone X-like fullscreen design to the high-end Apple tablet thanks to the drastically reduced bezels.

2018 iPad Pro should adopt Apple’s integrated camera bump as well

There should be no notch because the top bezel won’t be as thin as that on the phones, meaning the TrueDepth camera should fit without requiring a cutout in the display panel.

The Lightning port at the bottom should be replaced by the USB-C standard

10.5 and 12.9-inch models should be smaller thanks to the skinnier bezels

The big unanswered question is whether these new iPads will rock the superior OLED panels or stick with the traditional LCD technology. Some rumors have said that this will be the year the Apple tablet makes a jump to OLED, but supply chain reports and trusted analysts have predicted that OLED-outfitted tablets and notebooks won’t release before 2019 or 2020.
