How to use two Slack apps on your iPhone and iPad

Slack is such a widely used communication tool for businesses and teams that if you belong to more than one Slack workspace, it can get overwhelming. You may have a large number of notifications displayed on the app badge icon, but until you open Slack, you don’t know which workspace they belong to.

Wouldn’t it be nice to have two separate instances of Slack on your iOS device? That way, you can use one for higher-priority workspaces and the other for lower-priority workspaces. Then, you can check the most important one when needed.

Luckily, there is an easy way to get two Slack apps on your iPhone or iPad.

Download Slack for EMM (Enterprise Mobility Management)

An easy way to do this is to head over to the App Store and search for Slack EMM. Or, just search for Slack, tap the developer name, and you should see Slack EMM in the list for you to download.

Both Slack and Slack for EMM are available for free on the App Store.

Besides that, Slack EMM seems to receive the same updates as Slack, except they may come a little later.

Benefits of two Slack apps

As we touched on above, you might use Slack EMM for lower-priority workspaces and the regular Slack app for higher-priority workspaces. This lets you open the Slack app that you need when you need it.

Another nice benefit is that you can configure the app notifications separately. From where the alert displays on your screen to the app badge icon to the sound, each app’s notification can be different. Open your Settings, scroll down to and tap each Slack app to open it, and then tap Notifications.

Being able to separate Slack workspaces in one app is good, but being able to do it with two apps can be even better. Maybe your main business Slack account is your higher priority, so giving it its own app means it always gets your attention. Are you going to give two Slack apps a try on your iPhone or iPad?
