Ohio State taunts Apple during recent football game

The Ohio State University and Apple recently entered into a new agreement, but that hasn’t stopped them from poking a little fun their way during a recent OSU football game.

As a quick backgrounder, some folks noticed that typing in the letter “I” may confuse Apple’s machine learning algorithm and yield an autocorrect suggestion of “A[?].”

Apple offered a convoluted workaround solution, but the autocorrect problem still ignited plenty of entertaining comments on Twitter (it fixed this issue with the release of iOS 11.1.1).

Ohio State took this as an opportunity to pull a lighthearted prank. In the midst of a chant where each quadrant of the stadium yells out one of the letters of “Ohio”, those in the students section held up signs that formed “A[?]” instead of an “I”.

They often use giant cards to show an image or message during the game, though not usually to taunt anyone other than their rivals. We’ve embedded just a few of the images and videos that were shared across social media.

How do you like Ohio’s subtle dig at Apple’s autocorrect problem?
