Boxy 3 lets you customize your Home screen layout

Perhaps one of the most popular things people do after jailbreaking their device is modify their Home screen app icon layout. Jailbreak tweaks of this nature have been released for almost every jailbreak iteration to date, and iOS 10 is no different.

With a new jailbreak tweak dubbed Boxy 3 by iOS developer William Vabrinskas, you’ll have access to a whole host of Home screen app icon layout settings to your device.

After installation, you can swipe up on the Home screen with one finger to reveal the Quick Settings interface you see above. It includes sliders for adjusting all of the following things:

  • Horizontal app icon padding
  • Vertical app icon padding
  • Side inset of your app icons
  • Top inset of your app icons

As you adjust the sliders, you’ll see their effects on your Home screen app icons in real time. As they shift positions, your eyes will drool while  you gaze upon the gorgeous fluid animation you see below:

At the top of the interface are three controls: a minimization button for shrinking the interface, a grabber for moving the interface around on your screen, and a close button for exiting the interface.

Boxy 3 also adds a preferences pane to the Settings app where you can configure a bevy of other options:

Among the things you can change here are:

  • Toggle the tweak on or off
  • Enable or disable the Home screen-based Quick Settings
  • Use two fingers instead of one for the Quick Settings gesture
  • Hide or show the Home screen dots
  • Hide or show the app icon labels
  • Make app icons square
  • Hide or show the application Dock
  • Save or restore your layout settings
  • Configure a new layout with custom columns and rows

The settings with asterisks next to them require a respring to take effect. Fortunately, the “Apply Changes” button in the main preferences pane saves your settings and resprings your device for your convenience.

Boxy 3 is a cosmetic tweak that’s sure to appeal to those who enjoy aesthetic modifications, such themes and layouts. If you’re interested in trying the tweak, it’s available for $1.99 from Cydia’s ModMyi repository and works with all jailbroken iOS 10 devices.
