Can your iPhone or iPad run iOS 11?

iOS 11 makes your iPhone and iPad more powerful, personal and intelligent than ever before. You might be wondering if you have the device requirements to install it. Fortunately, we’re here to answer that question.

iOS 11 system requirements

Apple is officially dropping support for 32-bit devices, which means older devices like iPhone 5 and iPhone 5c are out out of the picture. As a result of 64-bit requirement, iOS 11 does not run legacy 32-bit apps at all.

The following 64-bit Apple devices are supported by iOS 11:

iPhone

  • iPhone X
  • iPhone 8
  • iPhone 8 Plus
  • iPhone 7
  • iPhone 7 Plus
  • iPhone 6s
  • iPhone 6s Plus
  • iPhone 6
  • iPhone 6 Plus
  • iPhone SE
  • iPhone 5s

iPad

  • 12.9-inch iPad Pro (second generation)
  • 12.9-inch iPad Pro (first generation)
  • 9.7-inch iPad Pro
  • 10.5-inch iPad Pro
  • iPad (2017 model)
  • iPad Air 2
  • iPad Air
  • iPad mini 4
  • iPad mini 3
  • iPad mini 2

iPod touch

  • iPod touch (sixth generation)

While 32-bit iPhones have been removed from the compatibility list, every other device that could run iOS 10 can run iOS 11 as well. This is great news for anyone with any 64-bit Apple mobile device who is interested in upgrading to iOS 11 in order to enjoy all of its benefits and great new features.
