This tweak makes Siri less impatient so you can take your time speaking

A lot of times while using Siri, you might have to repeat yourself or start over while you’re talking because if you speak too slowly, or pause while you’re talking, you’ll get the “I didn’t quite get that” message.

As frustrating as this can be, especially in louder environments, a new free jailbreak tweak called SiriKeepListening now available in Cydia helps remedy this problem.

Siri, listen to me!

The problem, which was talked about on Reddit before the tweak was developed by request, stems from the fact that Apple codes Siri to stop listening after a moment of pause from you speaking to conserve power and to assume that you’ve completed your sentence.

On the other hand, this can be a problem when you’re in a loud environment or someone’s talking to you at the same time that you’re using Siri, because in these situations, you might stutter more or pause to listen to what someone is saying. Times when you need to breathe after a long sentence can also trigger this problem.

When this happens, Siri will cut you off and either search for half of the query you actually intended to search for, or it will give you the infamous “I didn’t quite get that” or “I don’t know what you mean by…” response that stems from not being able to make sense of what you said or getting an incomplete query.

The fix

When you install SiriKeepListening, Siri will be forced to keep listening until you forcefully end your query by tapping on the microphone after speaking. This eliminates the automatic voice detection aspect of Siri, and allows you to get your whole sentence out without getting cut off or interrupted.

You will literally be able to keep speaking for as long as you need to, taking as long of a pause in between speaking as you need to, to get Siri to understand the query that you’re hoping to get an answer for.

My thoughts on SiriKeepListening

Because I’ve personally been in the shoes of the person who has to repeat themselves to Siri because it expects you to keep speaking like a robot instead of a human being, I think this tweak has great value for those that use the virtual voice assistant a lot.

With it, you can not only speak naturally, but if you’re reading something from the internet to ask Siri a question, you can pause, take a moment to refresh your memory while speaking, and then continue talking without Siri assuming your query too early.

If you use Siri a lot, I suggest trying this tweak out and seeing if you like the changes.

Wrapping up

To put an end to an otherwise impatient Siri, SiriKeepListening is a cool new jailbreak tweak that can be had from Cydia’s BigBoss repository for free that might be worth checking out.

The tweak works on iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad with iOS 9 installed, and it doesn’t have any options to configure.
